Incorporated in 1866, a friendly, rural atmosphere prevails in Wrightsville. You'll find a variety of things to do and places to explore. With newly paved sidewalks and tree plantings, historic downtown Wrightsville offers a modern variety of shops and restaurants as well as a walk back in time with its 100+ year old historic courthouse and store fronts. Come explore downtown and the many historic places of interest in Johnson County. 

Wrightsville is executing a plan to build on the strengths of its history and make investments into the future. The City of Wrightsville has united around a vision to improve our downtown buildings while preserving their historic character. The City of Wrightsville was recently designated a historic district and passed a historic preservation ordinance to help preserve the character that defines the City. Walkability

Better Hometown was able to obtain Streetscape grants to renovate our sidewalks downtown. Individuals also contributed to purchase pavers, benches, and lampposts. Most of the sidewalks have recently been repaired or replaced in the main areas of town. Wrightsville’s layout and sidewalks makes the downtown square very accessible and allows pedestrians to access businesses and the center of activity very easily.

Parking

Historic Downtown Wrightsville has 350 parking spaces. Multiple grass lots and gravel lots can additionally accommodate 200 cars. Combined with parking available along side streets, downtown is able to park close to 1,000 cars. There is currently surplus parking able to support new business. The City will soon make improvements to the South Bradford Street parking lot.

Broadband

High speed internet access is available downtown via fiber through local provider Zoom Telcom with speeds up to 1G and expandable to higher speeds upon request.

AT&T provides internet speeds in Wrightsville with speeds up to 1Tbps.

Washington EMC will soon provide broadband downtown in their Phase II broadband expansion, offering speeds from 100 Mbps up to 2 Gig.

Traffic

Downtown Wrightsville is at the intersection of three main highways. 16,860 vehicles come through Wrightsville each day, providing great potential for foot traffic for downtown business. 

Highway 15 through town was recently resurfaced by GA DOT. 

Partners for Success

Wrightsville Main Street leads a movement committed to strengthening the community through preservation-based economic development in historic downtown Wrightsville. Main Street volunteers also serve as the City's Historic Preservation Review board. 

The Wrightsville Rural Zone Commission leads efforts to promote Rural Zone state tax credits available for job creation activities, investment in downtown properties, and renovation of properties to restore them to service and grow the City's small businesses. 

Develop JoCo is the Development Authority of Johnson County, Georgia, serving as the one-stop shop for economic and community development in Wrightsville-Johnson County. 

The Wrightsville Georgia Chamber of Commerce is an organization of local businesses that promotes economic development and business activity in Wrightsville. The Chamber of Commerce encourages a positive business climate by working with investors, attracting visitors, and creating a strong community. As an important representative for the Wrightsville business and employer community, the Chamber of Commerce can also influence Johnson County public policy.
