Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE)
Johnson County High School offers five great pathways through the CTAE initiative, leveraging partnerships with industry and higher education to ensure Johnson County students have the skills they need to thrive in the future workforce.
Pathways include:
Veterinary Science, Agriculture Mechanics & Metal Fab Systems, Business and Technology, Financial Services, and Nutrition & Food Science.
Youth Apprenticeships
Work Based Learning was initiated in Georgia to insure a well-educated and highly skilled workforce. It is designed to bring together the components necessary for a successful career: Education and Experience.
Through Work Based Learning, students are able to:
Increase career options and future employability.
Strengthen academic skills.
Experience the connection between education and real-life work skills.
Accrue volunteer hours through an unpaid internship while learning from skilled professionals OR Earn wages through a paid apprenticeship position while learning from skilled professionals.
Learn and apply work ethics.
Learn and apply employability skills such as resume writing, interview skills, business etiquette.
Through Work Based Learning employers are able to:
Increase skill levels of potential workers
Work with educators to develop curriculum based on industry standards.
Recruit and screen potential employees.
Reduce turnover of entry-level employees through the hiring of WBL students.
Improve competitiveness in the marketplace.
Higher Education
Southeastern Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, provides an innovative educational environment for student learning through traditional and distance education delivery methods focused on building a well-educated, globally competitive workforce for Johnson County.
Training is provided to local companies in order to update the work skills of employees. Retraining to accommodate new technology or world-class manufacturing methods introduced into the workplace is also available.
Many professions and employers require certification training and testing. Southeastern Tech’s Economic Development division can provide timely training and certification testing to keep professional work credentials current.
Southeastern Tech offers its entrepreneurial students and small business owners within the community assistance with small business start-up and expansion. Southeastern Tech also provides resources for retraining tax credits.
Continuing Education courses are developed in response to special educational demands and requests of citizens, professional and business groups, and other organizations. The major role of continuing education is to develop and implement courses for career and professional development and personal interest and enrichment.
Georgia’s nationally recognized Quick Start program, which has developed specialized training tailored specifically to business needs for 55 years, provides companies with the trained workforce needed to support new locations or expansions.
Quick Start offers quality training as an incentive to new businesses in Johnson County. Existing industries undergoing major expansion may also qualify. It offers customized technical training, instructor training, instructional and media development, training materials and equipment, and facilities for training.
Quick Start's services are free to any qualified company, whether new to Johnson County, Georgia, expanding a workforce here, or adding new technology to stay competitive. Just as your solutions are unique, so is the approach to helping you. Quick Start helps assess workers, train new employees on your unique processes, and develop customized job-specific training using the most current techniques and media.
